ShiftGoal Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 August 2026

ShiftGoal respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the ShiftGoal iOS application.

1. Information you enter into ShiftGoal

ShiftGoal is a work-hours and earnings tracking application.

Depending on how you use ShiftGoal, you may enter information including:

ShiftGoal does not require a separate ShiftGoal account.

You are not required to provide ShiftGoal with an email address, phone number, password or payment-card information in order to use the app.

2. Local storage

ShiftGoal stores your records locally on your device using Apple's application storage technologies.

Some application preferences are also stored locally, including settings relating to notifications, Face ID, onboarding and other app behaviour.

The ShiftGoal widget uses an Apple App Group so information required by the widget can be shared locally between the main ShiftGoal app and its widget extension.

3. iCloud and CloudKit

When you are signed into iCloud and iCloud services are available, ShiftGoal may synchronize supported records using Apple's CloudKit service and your private iCloud database.

This can allow your ShiftGoal information to synchronize or restore between devices associated with the same iCloud account.

Data that may be synchronized includes information such as:

ShiftGoal does not operate its own server for storing your work, shift, payment or earnings records.

If iCloud is unavailable, ShiftGoal may continue operating using local storage, although synchronization and cloud restoration may not be available.

4. iCloud connection verification

ShiftGoal includes a feature called Verify iCloud Connection.

When you choose to run this check, ShiftGoal may temporarily create a small diagnostic record in your private iCloud database.

The diagnostic record contains technical information such as:

It does not contain your workplaces, shifts, payments, earnings, expenses or notes.

The diagnostic record is used to verify the connection and is then deleted.

5. Analytics, advertising and tracking

ShiftGoal does not currently use:

ShiftGoal does not sell your personal information.

6. Face ID and device authentication

ShiftGoal may allow you to protect access to the app using Face ID or another authentication method provided by your device.

Authentication is handled by Apple's iOS security system.

ShiftGoal does not receive or store your Face ID biometric template or facial biometric data.

The app receives only the result of the authentication request, such as whether authentication succeeded or failed.

7. Notifications

If you grant notification permission, ShiftGoal may schedule notifications relating to features such as:

ShiftGoal does not operate its own remote notification server.

Apple services, including CloudKit, may use system notifications in the background to support synchronization.

You can manage ShiftGoal notification permissions through iOS Settings.

8. CSV exports and sharing

ShiftGoal allows you to export certain information as a CSV file.

Exports are initiated by you.

When you choose to share or save an exported file, the destination is selected using Apple's sharing interface.

You may choose destinations such as Files, Mail or another compatible application installed on your device.

Once you choose to send information to another application or service, that application's own privacy practices apply.

9. Data retention and deletion

Information stored locally remains on your device until it is deleted through ShiftGoal, removed as part of normal app operation, or the app's local storage is removed.

Deleting ShiftGoal from your device normally removes its local application data.

If ShiftGoal information has previously synchronized with your private iCloud account, deleting the app does not necessarily remove the copy stored in iCloud.

This means synchronized information may become available again after reinstalling ShiftGoal while using the same iCloud account.

You can manage iCloud data using controls provided by Apple through your device and Apple account.

Because ShiftGoal does not operate a separate ShiftGoal account system or custom cloud database, there is no separate ShiftGoal account that needs to be deleted.

10. Security

ShiftGoal relies on security protections provided by iOS and, when iCloud synchronization is used, Apple's iCloud and CloudKit infrastructure.

Optional Face ID protection can provide an additional device-level access control for ShiftGoal.

No electronic storage system can guarantee absolute security.

ShiftGoal does not claim that application data is independently end-to-end encrypted by ShiftGoal.

11. Third-party services

ShiftGoal does not currently integrate third-party advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs.

Where iCloud synchronization is available, ShiftGoal uses Apple's CloudKit service.

Information handled by Apple is also subject to Apple's applicable terms and privacy practices.

12. Children

ShiftGoal is a general-purpose work-hours, pay and earnings tracking application and is not specifically directed toward children.

ShiftGoal does not operate advertising or a user-account system designed to collect children's personal information.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when ShiftGoal's features, data practices or applicable requirements change.

When changes are made, the Last updated date at the top of this page will be revised.
